Breaking: Telekom Secures Major Golf Broadcasting Deal with Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

German telecom giant Telekom has secured the broadcasting rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its platform Magenta TV, starting in January 2026. The deal, which runs through 2029, includes coverage of 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These channels will debut on Magenta TV in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will provide full-length tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. The programming kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The golf content will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present each tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all men’s and women’s Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, ensuring that Sky remains a key player in broadcasting the sport’s most prestigious events.

Golf fans looking to follow weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky to access the full range of live golf coverage.
