Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will see a major shift in TV coverage beginning in 2026. After years of exclusivity with Sky, Telekom has acquired the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029 will also be shown on Magenta TV. However, Sky will retain the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2, launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will air full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will feature highlights, player features, and historical content. On-demand content will also be available. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The service will be included at no extra cost for MagentaTV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll present every tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Telekom’s Head of TV.

Sky Retains the Majors

Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years, maintaining its hold on the sport’s most prestigious events alongside the Ryder Cup. The Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors will also remain with Sky. As a result, fans wanting full access to weekly golf action and the biggest tournaments will need subscriptions to both platforms.
