Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf is getting a new home on German television. From January 2026, Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta TV will take over the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour, ending Sky’s long-standing exclusivity. The deal runs through 2029 and includes coverage of 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will retain the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These will debut on Magenta TV in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. The programming kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The entire golf offering will be included at no extra cost for Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on Magenta TV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shot to the final putt, we’ll present every tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern storytelling approach,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains Major Championships

Despite losing a significant portion of golf coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in the sport, alongside the Ryder Cup. Sky will also retain rights to the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, maintaining its hold on the biggest tournaments in women’s golf.

Golf fans who want to follow the sport weekly and watch the major tournaments will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky going forward.
