Breaking: Telekom Secures Major Golf Broadcasting Rights for MagentaTV

Starting January 2026, MagentaTV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Telekom has acquired the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its platform MagentaTV. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, MagentaTV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to broadcast all men’s and women’s Major tournaments.

300 Days of Golf on Two Dedicated MagentaTV Channels

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full-length tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content such as player features, stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The golf content will be included at no extra cost for all MagentaTV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—from the first tee shot to the final putt, live and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom. “It’s designed for both seasoned fans and new, younger audiences discovering the sport.”

Sky Retains Majors and Solheim Cup

Despite losing a significant portion of the golf calendar, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major championships, including the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. These events remain among the most prestigious in the sport, ensuring Sky retains a crucial part of the golf broadcasting landscape.

Going forward, fans who want to follow weekly tournaments and the biggest events will need subscriptions to both MagentaTV and Sky.
