Season Kickoff in Australia and LET Finale in Spain

The DP World Tour begins in Australia while the Ladies European Tour concludes its season in Spain.

This week in golf kicks off with a look into the early Australian summer. The new DP World Tour season begins at the Royal Queensland Golf Club with the BMW Australian PGA Championship. This marks the start of the Opening Swing, which connects Australia, South Africa, and Mauritius as part of the tour’s global format. A prize fund of 2.5 million AUD is up for grabs, and last year’s winner Elvis Smylie returns to defend his title. For Freddy Schott and Yannik Paul, this is an early opportunity to earn valuable points for the Race to Dubai.

While the new DPWT season tees off in Australia, attention also turns to Spain for the Ladies European Tour finale. The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España takes place at the Real Club Guadalhorce Golf, featuring 75 players competing over 72 holes with no cut. The prize purse is 700,000 euros. Carlota Ciganda leads the field as the defending champion. A strong German contingent includes Helen Briem, Laura Fünfstück, Leonie Harm, Patricia Isabel Schmidt, Alexandra Försterling, and Olivia Cowan. The tournament will also determine the winner of the Order of Merit, with 500 points on the line.
