Cameron Young fires a stunning 64 to join the lead, as Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka slip after strong starts.
At the Hero World Challenge, the exclusive PGA Tour invitational hosted by Tiger Woods at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas, Cameron Young vaulted into a share of the lead with a brilliant second-round 64. After opening with a 70, Young found his rhythm on day two. He started quietly with two birdies on the front nine, but caught fire on the back nine, recording five birdies and an eagle, with only two pars and a closing bogey. His 8-under round brought him to 10-under overall, tying him at the top with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (66), Wyndham Clark (68), J.J. Spaun (68), and fellow American Akshay Bhatia (68).
Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka fall back
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Austrian Sepp Straka dropped six spots to T6 after sharing the lead on day one. Scheffler opened his second round with a bogey on hole 2 but recovered with three birdies on the front nine. He added a birdie on 14 and an eagle on 15, but a costly double bogey on 17 dampened his round, which ended at 69. Straka mirrored Scheffler’s score with a 69 as well. He bogeyed the second hole, rebounded with a birdie on 3, but gave another shot back on 4. He steadied himself with two more birdies on the front nine and added two more on the back, but couldn’t gain further ground.
