Si Woo Kim Rejects LIV Golf Offer, Commits to PGA Tour

Si Woo Kim has reportedly turned down an offer from LIV Golf and will continue playing on the PGA Tour, according to Korean media.

Si Woo Kim has declined an offer from LIV Golf, as reported by the Maeil Business Newspaper. After speculation that the four-time PGA Tour winner might join the Saudi-backed league, it was confirmed on Friday that Kim has opted to remain on the PGA Tour.

Deal with LIV Golf was reportedly close

Just a day earlier, reports indicated that Kim was close to joining Iron Heads GC under captain Kevin Na, alongside players like Laurie Canter and Victor Perez. However, Kim’s team confirmed that the 30-year-old rejected the offer and expressed his desire to continue competing on the American tour. “It is true that Kim Si-woo, like many other Korean players, received an offer,” a team member told the Maeil Business Newspaper. “However, Kim Si-woo ultimately decided to decline the offer and remain on the PGA Tour.”

Kim remains a key figure on the PGA Tour

Currently ranked 47th in the world, Kim had a solid season with three top-10 finishes. He recently placed third at the Australian Open, contending for the title until the final holes. With over a decade on the PGA Tour and a win at the 2017 Players Championship, Kim was expected to be a cornerstone of Kevin Na’s LIV Golf team. Rumors also circulated about Sungjae Im possibly joining LIV Golf, but he too denied the speculation and reaffirmed his commitment to the PGA Tour.

It remains unclear how Iron Heads GC and Kevin Na plan to respond to Kim’s rejection or who they may target as alternative signings.
