Justin Rose surprises as only golfer in Google’s 2025 Top 10

Among football stars and boxing champs, Justin Rose made a surprise entry into Google’s Top 10 most-searched US athletes.

When Google released its ‘Year in Search’ list in early December, few expected to see Justin Rose among the top names. Yet there he was—ranked tenth among the most-searched athletes in the United States in 2025. Not a current Major winner, not a social media sensation, but still the only golfer to make the list—surpassing even more high-profile names in the golf world.

Masters thriller, FedEx title, Ryder Cup glory

Rose had a standout year in 2025. In April, he battled Rory McIlroy in a dramatic playoff at the Masters, ultimately falling short as McIlroy completed his career Grand Slam. Later that summer, Rose ended a long winless streak by capturing the FedEx St. Jude Championship—his 12th PGA Tour title. He capped off the season as a key member of Team Europe, helping secure a 15–13 Ryder Cup victory in New York.

Google spike after Masters showdown

His biggest online moment came the week after the Masters. Between April 13 and 19, search interest in Justin Rose surged in the U.S.—with a notable spike in Ireland. The Sunday duel with McIlroy at Augusta likely fueled the buzz. Despite narrowly missing out on the green jacket, Rose found himself at the center of attention.

A quiet star among NFL and pop culture icons

In a list dominated by names like Shedeur Sanders, Micah Parsons, and Sophie Cunningham, Rose stood out as a quiet achiever. While McIlroy ranked second globally, Rose was the only golfer in the U.S. Top 10. His rise wasn’t driven by flash or controversy, but by consistency and performance—qualities that earned him a spot among America’s most-searched athletes in 2025.
